Learn to Sail – Beginners Course

Learn to Sail is a beginners course, teaching the basics of sailing, usually on our Platu Keelboats. Students require no previous experience and the course is 95% practical.

S tudents will be amazed at how much fun sailing is and how well it connects with nature.  Our Platus yachts are the perfect learning platform. They allow us to put up to 5 students with an instructor on the boat. Each person has a job to do, skills are taught in sequential order and each student learns to master the physical and theoretical aspects of the sport.  Learn to Sail provides the foundation experience of both crewing and helming a keelboat.

This is a hugely popular two day course in the most beautiful island locations of SE Phuket.  After two days learning to sail with Sail in Asia, your students will be confident at steering a keelboat, trimming sails, working with other students, crewing and guiding a small yacht in almost every direction.

A further day may be added to the course which will qualify the students for an ISSA Keelboat Crew Certificate.  This extra day is usually a day trip to an island or bay, with a lunchtime picnic and a sail back to base.  The day trip is a flotilla trip which is carefully shadowed by a large Safety Boat.  The trip is hugely appreciated by students and teachers alike.
