Adventurous Voyage Overview
The Adventurous Voyage is a chance for students to engage in the design and implementation of bespoke adventure trips using yachts, kayaks and dragonboats. We run Gold Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions.

Outdoor Education in Asia has a proud history of working with schools to provide high quality adventure experiences for their students. Our knowledge of local waters helps us to work with schools to create trips that combine challenge, exploration and fun. We ensure that the voyage is a collaborative process with the students participating in the decision making of every day of the voyage. Students have to consider the challenges of weather, tide, potential risks and the day to day planning, of what route to take and what constraints and challenges they may meet. Our aim is to give students the opportunity to engage in activities that require determination, physical effort, perseverance, problem solving and cooperation; participants are rewarded with unique, challenging and memorable experiences.

Pre expedition D of E Training and voyage preparation
Our Adventurous Voyage options are not exclusively for the International Award as they also be used towards the International Baccalaureate CAS project, and may be adapted by schools not engaged in either to create a bespoke Outdoor Education Expedition or Trip. We are happy to help you to customise our trips to your school’s and students’ requirements.
Pre expedition D of E Training and voyage preparation
Schools may decide to do some pre-expedition training for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Silver or Bronze Awards. This preparation enables students to learn to sail, kayak, erect and manage their camping and largely gain experience before the main event. We teach students to learn to sail, read charts, understand simple navigation and to interpret weather information. Schools may choose to do this with Sail in Asia or with local providers. We also like to offer Teachers weekend courses with Sail in Asia as a pre-voyage planner and to get a real feel for the area and of course to cover all aspects of the journey.
Being in a challenging environment, participants will experience highs and lows, both throughout the preparation and training, and the actual journeys themselves. However, the rewards at the completion of the qualifying journey are hard to match; elation, a real sense of achievement, self-confidence, trust and belief in oneself and others.
