The Flotilla Sailing Trips for Outdoor Education
The Flotilla Sailing Trips for Outdoor Education Adventure Training are popular with International Schools because they begin with a two or three day training course (Learn to Sail) and then a two, three, or four day Sailing Expedition with a flotilla of keelboats.
The Learn to Sail Course syllabus is outlined below and is an Internationally certified sailing course (ISSA), designed for keelboats. This is a 95% practical course which is both fun and educational. A handbook is provided to all students.
Schools Flotilla Adventurous Journey
Flotilla Sailing Trips for Outdoor Education Adventure Training
The trips take the students (5 per boat) to a tropical island. Students anchor their boats and then go ashore and pitch tents. Sail in Asia can provide tents and some sleeping bags. A lead vessel or safety boat accompanies the flotilla, and instructors are also always in attendance.
The sailing expedition can be tailored to meet the objectives set by the International School, or to meet the criteria of The Duke of Edinburgh International Award (coming soon) or a International Baccalaureate CAS project. The logistics of trips are worked out prior to arrival with Group Leaders and Teachers. Therefore we strongly recommend you consider aPre-Visit at Sail in Asia to ensure a smooth running and highly enjoyable Outdoor Education Adventure trip.

Outdoor Education Flotilla Sailing Trips
The Flotilla Adventure Sailing Trip is structured to be an educational course and an adventurous journey.
The structure of this activity means that your students get a good grounding in the basics of sailing a keelboat followed by a well planned and executed adventurous journey, using sailing boats which are ideal for young people and are great for learning the art of sailing.
Non-swimmers will be able to participate in all our courses as PFD's are mandatory for all students. Check out the course curriculum, in the table below, to review what will be taught and what is involved in bringing your students to an Outdoor Education in Asia to participate in one of our unique Flotilla Trips within the coastal waters of Phuket and its surrounding islands.
